minor construction

Friday, July 25th, 2003

I haven’t posted in the last few days because I work all day and not that much has happened in the last few days, most just hanging out with Colin and sitting at home enjoying having the house to myself(my parents are gone all week). Well, last week I went to two concerts with my homeslice Nikki. First we saw The Matches, Wakefield, Zebrahead and Reel Big Fish at the house of blues. It was freaking awesome. One of the security guards saw me take a picture and he swiped my camera. I made my way from the mosh pit through the crowd over to the side to the head of security guy and smooth talked him into not just giving me my camera back, but not deleting any of the pictures I took. Almost all of the pictures were really blurry because I was moshing like a mofo most of the time, but I did get one or two good ones. I’ll post em later. A few days later we saw The Starting Line at the Metro. ROOOck. They were great and the whole tiny place was going crazy. I really like The Starting Line and you should too. Hehe. I LOVE Zebrahead though. A few weeks ago when I was in New Jersey we were driving around and decided to figure out if we were band, who would we be, based on lyrics, tempo, overall sound and mood, etc. Kevbo is 311, Dan is Reel Big Fish, Lucas is Midtown, and I am Zebrahead. Hell yiggity. I’ll post some more later. This wasn’t enough, but I don’t have time at the moment. Leave me a comment or shout or $1000 donation. Heheh

NEW jersey story

Sunday, July 13th, 2003

Ok, I had work all week and couldn’t find the time to post. But now that it’s Sunday and I have nothing to do but laundry, I can catch up on here. Last weekend I went to visit my boy Dan in New Jersey. He and I go waaaay back, farther back than anyone else I know. Supposedly he was at my birth, I may have even met him before my mom. Anyway, he and I have been friends since I was 0, so we’re really close and we always have a lot of fun together. We’re very different people when it comes to things like girls or certain types of music, but on other things we’re one and the same. So, to start off, my flight to New Jersey was cancelled because of a mechanical problem with the plane. I went through security and this cool 20-something black kid security officer looked at my stuff and goes “Hey bro, you a DJ?” and I was like “Yeah man, how did you know?” and he said “The big headphones and the tricked out laptop.” We talked for a few minutes, he was a cool guy. So I walk over to the big screens with times and gates and stuff, and my flight doesn’t have a gate yet, then it refreshes and says CANCELLED. This girl was standing next to me waiting for the same flight info and she goes “you’ve gotta be kidding me”. It sucked. But I finally got to NJ, and waited for Dan at the normal spot, and he wasn’t there, so I kept waiting, and then I saw 3 kids coming around the corner. It was Dan, Kevin, and Vitty, in full costume. I saw them and started cracking up SO hard. After a few minutes of talking to them we called Alice because her friend Lux was coming to the airport, so we met Alice and when Lux finally showed up, I went up to her and told her that I went to her college and we were in the same Sociology class, she totally believed me, and she saw Dan(but didn’t recognize him) and said that she thought he was hot in his RIDICULOUSLY tiny shorts. Then I told her it was Dan and she freaked out, it was great. Meanwhile, Kevin and Vitty were hiding in the bookstore, and the lady that worked there thought that Kevin was cute and wanted a picture with him, so as I was taking it, she goes “Ooh, ya thso thsoft an wundafull” (oh, you’re so soft and wonderful with a BIG lispy accent), I was trying to take the picture but I was cracking up. So we took the tram to Dan’s car and drove home. We went to Alice’s and hung out there for a while. After hanging with her and Lux and Pedecine and some other kids, we went out to Dan’s car… and it wasn’t there. Dan lives in a little NJ suburb and no cars ever get stolen, so he leaves his keys in his car. I found out that often times, his friends take his car and hide it somewhere in town so he has to drive around with his friends and find it. Me, Kevin, Pedecine, Vitty, and Dan drove around for like 2 hours looking for his car, it was awesome. We drove alll around town blasting The Starting Line and MxPx. Good times. After that we went back to Dan’s house.
On the 4th, we played some basketball at their old high school. I borrowed some shorts from Kevin and through on my shirt and grabbed a Powerade. Dan did the same. When we got to the park, we realized that I was wearing all red and drinking red, he was all the same but blue. We took a pic but then Matt showed up, wearing all yellow and drinking apple juice! Weirdest thing ever. That nite we went back to Alice’s for her 4th pool party, and then saw fireworks. It was sweet. Later we went to a party and I met the Meister sisters for the first time since 7th grade. Back then, they were the hot, intimidating identical twins who had boobs waaaay back then. Now they weren’t so intimidating, in fact, Kristen and I have a lot in common and we slow danced to hip hop, and got a sweet dip shot. Aww yeah, we’re badass. Recognize.
The next day we chilled at Kevin’s house and went thrifting but didn’t find that much. I did find one little funny thing for Stephie, but I can’t say what it is because she reads this. That night, we organized a pool party at Kevin’s house which actually a lot of people came to. I met some new people, jumped off the roof into the pool with Kevbo, it was a lot of fun. We made a SWEET mix CD, what an art that is. I love making mix CDs, especially with other people who know a lot about music too. It’s a fun collaborative project, good times. So that party was a lot of fun. The next morning we went to Kathy’s high school graduation party. I had heard of her for a long time, just that she was the police chief’s daughter, but I finally met her! And what a cutie she is! I decided that I needed to make a nickname for her, but not an obvious one, like Special K, or K-dogg, or something like that. She’s Vitamin K. Awww yeah.
Later, Dan and I drove to the airport rocking out to Reel Big Fish and said our goodbyes, and then my flight got cancelled and I just barely got on the next one, and I ended up sitting on the plane for 8 hours, it sucked. Whew.
