I’m sorry I haven’t posted for a while, I’m trying to get jumpstudio up and running, AND convert the entire g27 photo gallery over to a very slick Flash/Flex player that will be much faster and roughly 4000 times cooler.
My friend Bob is a genius with a new Adobe product called Flex, which is like Flash + steroids + AJAX + glory x awesome. I had jumpstudio written in CSS and some Flash, but I was running into problems with the flash overlapping some CSS and generally not fitting where I wanted it too. Bob said he could probably rewrite the whole thing in Flex in 30 minutes and it would scream. How sick is that? I’ll let you know as soon as I have everything up and running!
In other news, Molly and I went to Warped Tour and it was great! My boys in Zebrahead were playing, so I contacted them a few days before they got here to have them put me on the guest list. Since Warped is such a huge festival, it was very difficult to actually find the right ticketing person with the right list that we were on. So, we went to the back entrance and had someone let me go in and find Ben, the bassist of Zebrahead, and bring him back to the gate and let Molly in with his pass. It worked out great, and they didn’t take my camera from me! And thus explains why the day was so great.
In exchange for getting us in free, I gladly carried around the “Zebrahead is playing at 12:15 on the Volcom Stage” promotional sign that the guys had made out of cardboard and PVC. Once they started playing, I had my camera hanging from my neck and started inching towards the very front of the mosh pit from the side. One of the security guards at the base of the stage got out of the way for me and let me get right up to the stage (there was a metal gate holding the pit back about 3 feet from the stage) to take pictures! They assumed that since I have a pro-looking camera that I’m a professional photographer, and thus I need to be at the stage to take pictures. This led to some GREAT shots since I was so close and not being moshed upon. This same scenario happened at each band that we saw – Zebrahead, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Less Than Jake, and Motion City Soundtrack. I’ll have all the best shots up on jumpstudio as soon as it’s up and running. For now, enjoy the Zebrahead photos. I got the Red Jumpsuit album as well as The Audition. Both are great! I’m going to try to make a music reviews portion of jumpstudio as well because the music section now is weak.
Once I’ve got jumpstudio up and running, I will write up a big post with lots of pictures and updates! Spread the word – g27 gets very little traffic and it deserves more due to it’s humor and general good looks. Ha. Rock on, Gees.
