It had just been too long since I went to Great America(or as some of you more reigonal Gees call it, Six Flags, although there are many Six Flags parks). Colin and I went downtown with Jeff, Dave, and a few of Jeff’s friends for the 4th of July for the Taste of Chicago and the fireworks on Navy Pier. Good times were had by all.. lots of good food, lots of walking, and lots of laughs. Overall a nice day. We were on the L train going into the city, and Colin looks at me and goes “Dude, let’s go to Great America this week” and without a moment’s hesitation I say “Hell yeah” and it’s on. We went to the park last Thursday – and our luck that day was awesome. I woke up, took a shower, and went downstairs to make some waffles. Just as I was starting to eat the first of four Eggos I made, Colin shows up at my front door, a few minutes early. He plays with Auggie (by the way, how ridiculously cute is she? she’s getting to be a big pup) for the few minutes it takes me to finish my waffles, and we hit the road. We rocked out to Yellowcard for the 25 minutes it took to get there, and there was no traffic which is always good. We were there at 10am, right when the park opened. We immediately walked to Raging Bull, one of the most popular rides in the park, and we were on it at 10:04. I’d say that was a good sign for the rest of the day. We went on every big ride that was open that day, and several of them twice, and the second time we always waited for the front row. I don’t know what could have made our day better than it was.

My life is like a vacation. Things could be worse.

Your last sentence really summed it up nicely..it does seem like your life is a vacation…but we all know its not. Its your attitude…we should all try to have more fun in our normal day-to-day lives, and not wait for a "vacation".

Hey Peet. I haven’t been to Great America in a long time. I do remember it was awesome! I live in Madison, Wis. so I don’t get down to Illinois too often. You should post some pics if you took any.
