two feet worth of luck

Thrift stores are officially the bomb dot com(thank you Ashley, more on her later). I went on a little thrifting adventure with my homey Troy last weekend… and man did I score. I love buying cheap random stuff that no one else has. Usually when we do thrifting we don’t find much good stuff… nowadays the thrifty look is kind of “in” so all these stores like Urban Outfitters are selling thrifty type stuff for big money. Smart move. If I had the money to buy a funny but kinda crappy tshirt for $20, I’d be in there all the time… but I don’t, so I have to search high and low through thrift stores to find my diamonds in the rough. While Troy and I were flirting with some random girls that we found at the ARC, I saw some shoes on the rack and I was like Hot damn those are sweet! I grabbed ‘em and Troy was like “Dude those are so pimp” as I tried them on. They fit perfectly… but how much were they? I looked on the inside of ‘em, checked the soles, no price. Some semi-creepy employee lady walked by and saw that I was trying them on and said “Wow those look pretty good” – nice. I asked her how much they were and showed her that they were ‘priceless’ (and would later find out they almost are), and she said they were 9 bucks. Done and done, I’m buying these damn things. I wore them home and went behind the front desk of my dorm to fix up some problem they were having with the printers. Everyone was like “Damn Peet, dope kicks” and I’m like thanks, 9 bucks suckas! I said something like “I love having cool nameless random stuff like this… made by.. ::trying to find the maker on the shoe:: Fluevog.” And Aubrey’s eyebrows go up. “Peet, those are Jon Fluevogs. He’s a famous designer, those are probably pretty expensive.” What?! Nice! I found Fluevog’s website and looked them up – these things are listed at $130! I called the 800 number to tell them my story.
Fluevog employee guy: Hello, thank you for calling Jon Fluevog shoes, how can I help you?
Peet: Hey bro, I just bought a pair of the Supervog Angels at a thrift store… for 9 bucks.
Fluevog employee guy: Wow! Really? ::to other employees:: This guy just got a pair of Angels at a thrift store for 9 dollars!
Peet: Yeah man, I looked on the website and I didn’t see the green and black color that I found.
Fluevog employee guy: They’re the green and blacks? We don’t even make that color anymore. Wow, people sell those on eBay for like, 150 bucks and more. We don’t mass produce our shoes.
Peet: They were totally unworn when I bought them. Damn, sounds like I made quite a find!
Fluevog employee guy: You bet, man. Nice find!
Peet: Thanks a lot, bro.

So how cool is that? I just paid, haha, like 97% off for some sweet new kicks. They’re like, boot/pimp/bowling shoes. What a sweet combo.
Oh, I mentioned Ashley earlier. I was sitting at the front desk helping some kid with his spyware-riddled laptop, and my friend Ashley walks by. I go “Yo Ash, whatcha doin?” and without a moment’s hesistation, she goes “Eh, just ruling the world.” Best. Response. Ever. She got like, 20 million cool points for that. Rock on Ash, yer wicked smaht.
Last week I was up on Maylene’s floor and I looked out their huge lobby window and saw a really great sunset so I ran down to my floor to get my camera. It was pretty smoggy, but still came out pretty well. Enjoy.
